The Shinto kami are said to gather on this mountain, 1,014m above sea level before descending to Izumo Grand Shrine in Octover- or Kamiarizuki, by the old calendar name.
The kami Okuninushi who is renowned for his miraculous ability to word off children’s diseases is enshrined here.
